I started doing finance and accounts as soon as I left college in 1983 and worked for various SME businesses until 2001.  During this time I did pretty much everything that you would expect to do including Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger, VAT Returns, Bank Reconciliation, Credit Control, Journals and Adjustments

From 2001 until 2003 I worked in the Finance Department of NSK, a Corporate Company as Treasurer. 

I left NSK in 2003 and started Positive Bookkeeping Ltd as I wanted to help small businesses.  From 2003 to 2005 I worked from home using Sage as my accounts package and slowly grew the business.

I was approached at the end of 2005 to work for a Business Coaching organisation ActionCOACH as a General Manager for 4 days a week.  I kept a small bank of clients and during this time I became experienced myself in Coaching, Personal Development, Recruitment and Event organising.

I continued with ActionCOACH until 2012 when one of my clients who had been with me since 2008 asked me to become his Operations Director and work full time in his business which is teaching people how to invest in property by providing training and networking events

In 2016 I decided I wanted to specialise in bookkeeping for the property industry, and with the blessing of my client, I went back to Positive Bookkeeping Ltd full time (still retaining my client but only now doing bookkeeping for his personal property portfolio, developments and investments).

I now employ 5 people in our business having grown from one client to nearly hundred over the past 3 years by referrals from Accountancy Firms and my clients.  My team include 2 apprentices doing Level 3 of their AAT and a lady who has a degree in accountancy.

30+ years experience in technical / IT support and development & network management.

16 years experience as a business owner.

Operations Director of Positive Bookkeeping Ltd since 2003: A bookkeeping company specialising in bookkeeping for property investors, property developers and letting agents.

Managing Director of Positive Virtual Management since 2017: A company that provides remote management and support for clients using Arthur Online to manage their property portfolios.

My interests are business, music and sport.

I joined Positive Bookkeeping 3 years ago.

I am hardworking, conscientious and passionate, about all things to do with bookkeeping.

I specialise in using Arthur and Xero and have a good knowledge and understanding of the functionality and the benefits of using these systems.

My interests when not working are spending time with my family and taking my 6 month old Labrador puppy for walks.

I am delighted to have recently joined Positive Bookkeeping’s Team.  I have known both Julie and Dave in a professional capacity and, also as friends for many years. 

I am a person Qualified by Experience. A member of the International Association of Bookkeeper.  I have with a wide range of experience in all aspects of bookkeeping, finance, and accounting processes, within the construction, manufacturing, and many other service industries.

 I first started as an account assistant, many moons ago. My career progressed over time. In 1989-2000 I was given the opportunity to work as the Financial Controller for a subsidiary in a global company in the chemical construction industry. From 2000 – 2005 I was employed as European Finance Manager for a Global Tier 1 supplier to the Automotive industry.  In 2009 I changed my career focus and I moved from corporate accounting into practice accounting.  I have worked for 10 years as a accountant for a local practice accountant, whilst also working self-employed as a bookkeeper or accountant for a small number of clients.  These duties include the following: 

  • Preparation and filing of Self-Assessments returns
  • Preparation and filing of Statutory Returns, including - Confirmation Statements and accounts
  • Preparation and filing of Corporation Tax Returns
  • Preparation and filing CIS Returns.
  • Preparation and filing of VAT Returns
  • Preparation and filing of Payroll – including P11d
  • Preparation of Periodic accounts
  • Preparation of Budgets, and Cash flow analysis 

Always Monitoring client deadlines and liaising with HM Revenue & Customs and Companies House when needed.  Preparation of documentation for new client and applying to HMRC for services on behalf of the client.

As a wife and a mom of twin girls my interest are firstly to my family, and I enjoy spending time with them, cooking and going on long leisurely walks. I also love to spend time socialisng with friends. Other interests are Gardening and reading.
