I started doing finance and accounts as soon as I left college in 1983 and worked for various SME businesses until 2001. During this time I did pretty much everything that you would expect to do including Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger, VAT Returns, Bank Reconciliation, Credit Control, Journals and Adjustments
From 2001 until 2003 I worked in the Finance Department of NSK, a Corporate Company as Treasurer.
I left NSK in 2003 and started Positive Bookkeeping Ltd as I wanted to help small businesses. From 2003 to 2005 I worked from home using Sage as my accounts package and slowly grew the business.
I was approached at the end of 2005 to work for a Business Coaching organisation ActionCOACH as a General Manager for 4 days a week. I kept a small bank of clients and during this time I became experienced myself in Coaching, Personal Development, Recruitment and Event organising.
I continued with ActionCOACH until 2012 when one of my clients who had been with me since 2008 asked me to become his Operations Director and work full time in his business which is teaching people how to invest in property by providing training and networking events
In 2016 I decided I wanted to specialise in bookkeeping for the property industry, and with the blessing of my client, I went back to Positive Bookkeeping Ltd full time (still retaining my client but only now doing bookkeeping for his personal property portfolio, developments and investments).
I now employ 5 people in our business having grown from one client to nearly hundred over the past 3 years by referrals from Accountancy Firms and my clients. My team include 2 apprentices doing Level 3 of their AAT and a lady who has a degree in accountancy.
